Ladies and Gentlemen,
At the outset, I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the Government of the Sultanate of Oman for their gracious hospitality and for hosting this vital forum. The Indian Ocean, sprawling across nearly 70.56 million square kilometers, stands as one of the world’s most crucial maritime realms playing an indispensable role in global trade, geopolitics, and environmental sustainability. The 8th Indian Ocean Conference (IOC) underscores the ocean’s significance and outlines the strategic imperatives that must be addressed.
